Am I the only one not making any money here?
How many times have you asked yourself why you are doing everything you do to run your brokerage – when at the end of the day it really feels like everyone is making money but you?
Or even worse – if you just went back to doing what you do best. Selling real estate. You could make more money with fewer headaches. But wait - what about all of the blood, sweat and tears you have invested to get it to where it is?
Do you really want to lose that?
Of course not.
What if you would have the opportunity to benefit from the efforts you have put in – while having the freedom to take your personal production to the highest level possible without the headache?
I’m sure you remember the day when you decided to hang your own shingle & open your own shop. It was a sunny day, birds were chirping, and the world was ahead of you.
You told your buddies about the plan to open your own brokerage. Since it was your company – you would make it everything that was good.. and none of the garbage that you dealt with daily.
I’m assuming most people said how great of an idea that was.. some probably said that they would join you – and I’m sure some did. You started with a ton of energy, got a bunch of deals, grabbed a couple of agents – and all was great.
You would offer great commission splits and let the agents be successful. It would all work out. Until a little time went by & you found yourself putting in way too much time dealing with things that were not putting money in your pocket. Dealing with back-office stuff, legal, compliance, drama…
You had to figure out the website and thought to yourself. “I think we bought one a couple of years back. I know it isn’t it showing on Google, but who cares, we have one, right?
Next was managing the agents (or like I often hear, “herding cats”). You built up a few and started with energy to take on and train them all. All was great, until you started to think – “why aren’t they working as hard as I do?” You started cleaning up messes and taking time from your personal biz to fix their stuff.
But what usually hits you in the belly is when they leave and you think “I cannot believe that <my favorite agent> left me for <insert competitor>? “I trained him and made him what he is. When did loyalty go out the window? What do they have that I don’t?”
SIGH… What happened? This is NOT how it was supposed to play out.
Now, this scenario may not be exactly what you deal with on a daily basis. You may be an exception and do better than most. Unfortunately you may also be on the other end of the spectrum – and you are worse.
Just know. There is another option.
Regardless of where you are today- you can turn the ship around. You don’t have to be another statistic of a failed business.
